ASSEMBLY
First TQC must get information from the golfer: Use our clubfit form
When we interview the golfer we will ask a series of questions designed to determine several
CRITICAL ITEMS
1. What is the golfer's handicap or average score for 18 holes
2. What club does the golfer hit from the 150 yard marker
3. What is the AVERAGE CARRY of the golfer's drive in yards
4. What is the height of the golfer OR the crease of the wrist to floor measurement
5. What is the glove or hand size of the golfer
6. What is the golfer's typical ball flight HEIGHT tendencies relative to height of the ball: does the ball stay low on a "line drive" ball flight; does it "balloon" up high like a "pop up" in baseball; does it penetrate and have a nice steady climbing flight before dropping down like the pros?
7. What is ball flight DIRECTION tendencies: does the ball slice from left to right ( banana ball) with serious distance ramifications; does the ball slightly fade from left to right? Does the ball hook sharply right to left (duck hook) Does the ball draw nicely from right to left in a controlled fashion? Does the ball go straight ( don't worry, this hardly ever happens for anyone!)
8. What is the golfer's MAIN GOAL? More distance, more accuracy, more consistency, more fun? At TQC we can adapt you clubs to meet YOUR goals! Do you want to out-drive your friends with a little trade -off in accuracy? Do you want to keep it in the fairway for lowering your handicap? Do you want to fix that dreaded SLICE? Do you want more distance across the board? Tell TQC and we can HELP YOUR GAME!
9. How much time are you planning to spend in lessons and practicing? If you never want to practice it will be difficult to have you hitting a draw BUT we can help if you want to put in the time on the practice range and in lessons!!!
10. How long are you planning to keep this set? IF you want a set of irons that will be your only set for the next 10 years, you may want graphite shafts IF you are 55 years old for example. If, on the other hand, you will trade up every 2 years I would recommend steel until your swing slows down.
The second step we follow is to start to make recommendations relative to your wants. Many golfers have a strong BRAND LOYALTY. Do you prefer Taylor Made irons? Nike woods? Callaway irons and woods? leveland irons? Titleist woods? Ping irons and woods?
At TQC we can match the clubhead to YOUR preferred companies products with a top shelf clone that WILL PLAY better than the Original Equipment Manufacturers BECAUSE IT WILL FIT YOU.
After fitting you to a clubhead, we look at shaft recommendations. We are not limited to 2 or 3 different shafts, we can and will use ANYTHING YOU WANT! The shaft is like the ENGINE of the golf club! The MOST IMPORTANT VARIABLE BY FAR IS THE SHAFT! 80% of all golfers are playing TOO STIFF A SHAFT! The wrong shaft will severely limit your distance and ball height. We will fit you to what you need based on swing speed and other data from your clubfitting specifications.
The brand is up to you: UST Pro-Force; Grafalloy, True Temper, Rifle, Titanium True Temper, Aldila, Graman. Our advice is to not scrimp on the shaft. MOST OEM'S use inexpensive shafts and offer an upgrade to a UST Pro-Force for more money. Why waste time and money on an OEM club then have to reshaft it to make it work?
After we custom fit the shaft, we determine the length needed. If you want to leave your friends in the dust, we recommend one of the new humongous heads by NIKE or TAYLOR and shafts IN THE 46 to 47" RANGE!!! You will get incredible extra distance off the tee BUT we need to determine if that is right for YOUR game.
After we fit the length we need to determine what grips you like. Grips are very important. Too big and you limit wrist movement; too small and you may grip too tight. Too hard and you may overgrip. You tell us what style and companies grips you like;
WINN, LAMKIN, GOLFPRIDE, OEM'S TOO!
We will offer our best recommendations as to what will work for you.
IF YOU HAVEN'T TRIED THE NEW SOFT GRIPS BY WINN you are missing out. Since moving to WINN GRIPS on my personal clubs, I have lowered my handicap and stopped wearing out gloves and have been gripping the club lighter and swinging smoother!
So, as you can tell by now, at TQC we look at ALL DIMENSIONS of your game to GET IT RIGHT FOR LESS.
TRY TOUR QUALITY CLUBMAKING, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!
