Junior golfers need clubs that fit! To enjoy the game and develop proper technique, there are certain requirements for a junior. The clubs must match their height. The swing speed must be matched to the flex of the shaft. The grips must be correctly sized. The heads must be light and very forgiving.
The fastest way to ruin the development of a junior golfer is to give him or her dad's old clubs, cut down the length, and regrip them. By giving them a club that is cut down you are asking them to hit a club that is stiff or extra stiff in flex. It won't get airborne, they will get frustrated, and lose interest in the game.
